Writing as a cathartic exercise

Image
I have found, as I write, that I begin to examine in more detail those ideas that have lain around in my mental attic for far too long, gathering an aura about them which sometimes is not helpful to my spiritual progress. There in black and white, on a previously blank sheet of paper, are the invisible elements of your persona that need to be aired and either discarded or used with effect ....

Murphys Law!  If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong ...  but I am more taken with the inverse ........... If something does go right, subsequent events will show that it would have been better if it had gone wrong!

Love Life and Destiny: Quest For Personal Truth

Image
The recently published paperback - Love, Life & Destiny - are the chronicles of Christopher Guy Luke – an ordinary man who experienced something quite extraordinary - as a revelation opened up a new pathway in his life. He was the Material Man, an Englishman with an inflated ego and expectations to match but, as the veneer that had shaped his life was stripped away, the authentic person stepped forward. This event came as a something of a shock but, some might say better late than never, after all, who is to know when our destiny is to be realised? The transformational, often brutal and tragic, events that caused him to question everything about Life, and the interrogation that he suffered, pulled back the veil of uncertainty and opened up a new vista of what is possible for us all. The question – who am I? - which was hurled at the Universe in reaction to the events that were unfolding before him opened up a door of adventure, initiating a quest for his Truth. ...

Intention? There Is No Try! Do!

Image
It became crystal clear that if you want to manifest anything in your life that there is one important thing you have to do.  You have to focus on the question and then 'ask'. This is the power of intention. Ask to be shown the bigger picture and then, as the power of synchronicity kicks in, situations, events and people will start to appear to give you the direction and information that you are seeking through conscious intention, reflective meditation or even more formal prayer. At various times of the quest that followed the asking of the question, I have probably employed all three practices in order to aid the process. There is nothing unusual about this as you will find if you merely browse through any book store as it is a practice that is reflected in the great eastern religions through to new age thinking, the law of attraction and The Secret. Your intention unlocks the power of synchronicity – meaningful coincidence - which governs all of our liv...

Gross National Happiness: Spirituality In The Real World

Image
Bhutan one of the smallest countries in the world measures Gross National Happiness : The Bhutanese grounding in Buddhist ideals suggests that beneficial development of human society takes place when material and spiritual development occur side by side to complement and reinforce each other. The four pillars of GNH are the promotion of sustainable development , preservation and promotion of cultural values, conservation of the natural environment, and establishment of good governance. Sounds like a good idea to me!

Treasures Within

Image
It's early morning and the sun is rising over the hillside just beyond me. Shadows stalk the trees and the birds are just about awake on a chill day. Another day begins. The room that I live in has a calming aspect to it. This is my world, small, secure and very much like a monk's cell. A laptop provides me with the opportunity to link across the world, connecting through the social media with people who are my friends but many of whom I have never met. For the majority of the last few years, I have lived in a single room with access to shared parts of a house for cooking. The arrangement suits me fine but I would have rejected that at one time. However, it is the accepted way of living for many in south east Asia (where I lived for a long time) and I have become accustomed to it. The result is that the changes to my Western life style have forced me to go within, as it is there that I find the broad limitless vistas of my imagination stretching out before me, i...

Moving Towards Your Destiny

Image
They say that everyone has at least one book within them. At the end of July, I managed to finish and then self publish my first book Love, Life and Destiny on Amazon after a great effort to get the work completed. I imagine it was like the experience of giving birth for the very first time and I was surprised how genuinely painful it was! Originally, I had set down a series of notes on Facebook on the various episodes in my most recent past for my friends to read. The common element of the stories was the rather remarkable series of coincidences that my life was beginning to throw up. I am sure that many of us have these types of encounters but we merely shrug them off as things that come along once in a while, we only notice them as we are more open than usual to accepting the meaning behind them. This blog was started so long ago when I had a different plan for my life. The content has fluctuated according to my state of mind and my desire to write. Completely by chance I ...

Debunking A Myth: Spirituality As A Quest

Image
My name is Christopher Luke and I am a Spiritual Nomad. These are the famous words that start any Alcoholics Anonymous session so I guess that I am confessing to an addiction. Spirituality, an addiction? Yes, for some it is. I have been quiet these last few days after a very active period when I was writing constantly and building my nascent web pages. Life Explorer on Facebook and the Intuitively web pages as I continue to build a web presence. I have an addiction to results and that is my problem. I mean did the Buddha set targets for himself when he went out into the world to teach people his understanding of life?Buddhism did not exist at that point as it was only through his inspiration that adepts and followers took his philosophy and started to spread the word as represented by his enlightenment. I have come to my current position in life through challenging the words 'Who Am I?'. I need to know wha...
